Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 10, 2026

Pawprint ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Osprey Technology LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Pawprint mobile applications, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. By using Pawprint, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us when you create an account, use our Service, or contact us for support.

  • Account Information: Your name, email address, username, profile photo, and phone number (which we verify by SMS), whether you sign up with Apple, Google, or email.
  • Pet Information: Details about your pets, including name, breed, age, weight, photos, any special care instructions you provide, and vaccination records if you choose to upload them.
  • Location Data: See Section 2 (Location Information) for a full description of the location data we collect, including approximate location for discovering nearby providers and precise GPS data during tracked walks.
  • Payment Information: Payment details are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment data on our servers. Stripe may save your payment method so you can reuse it for future bookings and tips.
  • Communications: Messages, booking requests, and offers you send through the platform, reviews you write, and conversations you have with our support team or in-app support assistant.
  • Provider Information: If you register as a provider, we collect additional information including your service descriptions, pricing, availability, and identity verification status. Identity verification is performed by Stripe Identity, which processes your government-issued ID and verification photos under Stripe's privacy policy; we store the result of the verification (verified or not) and a verification session reference, not your ID documents.
  • Device and Usage Information: Device type, operating system, push notification tokens, and app activity used to operate and secure the Service.

Session and Login Information

When you sign in to Pawprint, we automatically log metadata about the session, including your IP address, approximate location (city, region, and country derived from your IP address), device type, operating system, and the time of login. This information is used internally for security, fraud prevention, and operational support: for example, to detect suspicious account activity or to help diagnose issues you report.

The approximate location is derived from your IP address and is not precise GPS data. It is generally accurate to the city level. We use IP geolocation data licensed from DB-IP (https://db-ip.com) under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.

Session logs are retained internally and are not displayed on public profiles or shared with third parties, except as required by law.

2. Location Information

We collect location information in three distinct ways:

  • Approximate location for discovery: With your permission, we use your device's approximate location to show you pet service providers near you. This is collected only while you are using the app. You may also choose in your privacy settings whether to show your approximate location on your profile.
  • Precise location during tracked walks (providers): If you are a provider performing a dog-walking booking and you start walk tracking, we collect your device's precise GPS location for the duration of the walk — including in the background while your screen is locked, if you grant background location permission. The route, distance, and duration are shared with the pet owner for that booking and stored as part of the booking record. Walk tracking runs only during walks you start and stops when you end the walk.
  • IP-based approximate location: As described above, we derive a city-level location from your IP address at login for security and fraud prevention.

You can withdraw location permissions at any time in your device settings, though some features (provider discovery, walk tracking) will not work without them.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Connect pet owners with service providers in their area
  • Process payments and send transaction confirmations
  • Send push notifications about bookings, messages, and important updates
  • Verify provider identity and maintain platform safety
  • Screen messages, requests, and offers with automated tools to enforce our policies (for example, blocking the sharing of contact information) and protect users
  • Respond to your requests, questions, and support inquiries
  • Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the user experience
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activity

4. How We Share Your Information

With Other Users

Pawprint is a marketplace, so some of your information is shared with other users as part of providing the Service: your profile (name, photo, and, if enabled, approximate location and online status) is visible to other users; when you book or provide a service, the other party sees the information needed for the booking (such as your name, relevant pet details, service address where applicable, and messages you send); walk routes recorded by a provider are shared with the booking's pet owner; and reviews you write are displayed publicly with your name. You can adjust profile visibility options in your privacy settings.

With Service Providers

We use trusted third-party services to operate Pawprint and share with them only what they need to perform their functions:

  • Stripe: For secure payment processing, provider payouts, and identity verification (Stripe Identity). Stripe collects and processes payment and verification information in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
  • Apple and Google: For authentication (Sign in with Apple, Google sign-in) and for delivering push notifications (Apple Push Notification service, Firebase Cloud Messaging). Map content in our apps is provided by Apple Maps (iOS) and Google Maps (Android).
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3: For secure storage of user-uploaded content such as profile photos, pet images, and vaccination records.
  • Twilio: For sending SMS verification codes to your phone number, and for routing any in-app calls through platform numbers.
  • SendGrid: For delivering transactional emails (such as verification and booking emails).
  • Anthropic: Our in-app support assistant is powered by Anthropic's AI models. Messages you send to the support assistant (and related booking context needed to answer your question) are processed by Anthropic to generate responses.
  • Infrastructure providers: Our backend runs on hosted infrastructure (Railway), which processes data on our behalf.

Other Disclosures

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process; to enforce our Terms of Service or protect the rights, safety, or property of Pawprint, our users, or animals in their care; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information until you are notified otherwise).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for targeted advertising.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service.

If you delete your account, it is closed immediately and can no longer be used to sign in. Your email address, username, and any linked Apple or Google sign-in are released right away, so the same email address can be used to create a new Pawprint account. Within 30 days of deletion, we delete the remaining personal information from your profile, including your name, profile photo, bio, location, and phone number.

Some records are retained beyond this 30-day period:

  • Payment, booking, and transaction records are retained as required for payment processing and for legal, regulatory, and tax compliance.
  • Safety and fraud-prevention records are retained to protect the platform and its users, including from repeat abuse.
  • Content you shared with other users, such as messages you sent and reviews you wrote, may persist in those users' conversations and records, as it is part of their history as well.

Anonymized and aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information in your account settings or by contacting us.
  • Deletion: Delete your account and personal data at any time directly in the app (Settings → Delete Account), or request deletion by contacting us at support@pawprint.company. See Section 5 (Data Retention) for what is deleted and what we retain.
  • Data Portability: Request a machine-readable copy of your data.
  • Notification Choices: Turn off promotional push notifications in the app's notification settings or your device settings. Transactional notifications can be disabled in your device settings.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@pawprint.company. We will verify your request using the email address associated with your account and respond within 30 days (or sooner where the law requires). We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

US state privacy rights: Depending on where you live, state law (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or similar laws in other states) may give you additional rights, including the rights to know, correct, and delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to appeal a refused request. As stated above, we do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising. You may exercise these rights, or appeal a decision, through the contact methods above, and you may use an authorized agent where the law allows (we will verify the agent's authority).

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest, secure authentication, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Cookies and Tracking

Pawprint does not use cookies. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or analytics cookies on our website or in our mobile application.

Our website (pawprint.company) collects a small set of first-party usage events to help us understand how people find and use Pawprint. These events are:

  • Page views: recorded when the homepage loads.
  • QR scan events: recorded when a visitor arrives via a Pawprint QR code.
  • App Store click events: recorded when a visitor taps a "Download on the App Store" button.
  • Email-CTA click events: recorded when a visitor follows an "open the app" link from one of our emails (the /open page).

For each event, we collect the event name, the page URL, the referring URL, the IP address (logged by our server when the request is received), and a timestamp. We do not set any tracking cookies, we do not assign persistent visitor identifiers, and we do not load any third-party analytics, advertising, or social-media scripts on our pages.

This data is used solely for product analytics and improvement: for example, to see which channels bring visitors to the site and whether App Store buttons are working. It is never used for advertising and is never sold or shared with third parties. Events are collected by Pawprint directly and stored on our own servers at api.pawprint.dev.

Basic usage analytics for the iOS app may also be collected through Apple's built-in app analytics, which is governed by Apple's privacy practices and the user's device-level settings.

9. Children's Privacy

Pawprint is intended for adults: under our Terms of Service, you must be at least 18 years old to create an account. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 (and, in particular, not from children under 13). If we become aware that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will delete the account and associated information promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@pawprint.company.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the app and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
